about

The Sad Bunch of People 7" was the result of The Stand's first real studio session at a Montreal studio called "Studio DNA". Although the sonic results were less than we were looking for, we were pretty damn excited to release our first real vinyl record. It came out in the Spring of '92 on Montreal's En Guard Records.

Sad Bunch of People was a great success in that it opened lots of doors and got us on the road. It charted across Canada and ended up being the first time we ever heard ourselves on the radio: We were sitting in the van in a camp ground in Banff Alberta when it came on CJSW out of Calgary.

Purists will note "Away From Your Sway" wasn't on the original 7" but was part of an En Guard compilation called "Two Solitudes".

The 4th song from the DNA session -- and the 3rd song on the actual 7" -- is a cover of the Pogues "Boys From the County Hell" (but of course we're not allowed to upload that here...)

Believe it or not, there are still actual copies of this available on 7"!

about

The Stand GT Lancaster, Ontario

THE STAND GT began jamming in an abandoned chicken coop in Glengarry, Ontario in the late 80s. Soon after they left the farm and went on to release tons of LPs and 7"s while touring relentlessly in the 90s. While mostly on hiatus, the band will still play live sometimes for the right cause...or the right amount of craft beer. ... more
